There was once a peaceful lakeside village called Everward on the border of Hycadia, a kingdom on an unnamed continent. It was situated between two gigantic mountains, in the valley between them, with one gravelly, well-worn road connecting it to the outside world. It was a village where it seemed that nothing could go wrong. And nothing did, for a very long time. However, following the ancient laws set by beings who no longer walked upon this world, nothing can be forever.
